CROSS MATCH TECHNOLOGIES INTRODUCES BIOMETRIC SOLUTION TO PRESIDENT'S DIRECTIVE ON FEDERAL EMPLOYEE IDENTIFICATION

Palm Beach Gardens, FL, April 6, 2005 - Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a leading global provider of fingerprint and palm print systems, has introduced an open architecture biometric solution in response to the new Presidential Directive Hspd-12 mandating a common standard for federal employee identification. In response to the requirements outlined in the Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 for Personal Identity Verification (PIV), Cross Match is providing federal agencies and systems integrators with interoperable products and solutions to help the government check the backgrounds of federal employees and equip them with standardized biometric ID badges.

Unlike the many proprietary biometric technologies available today, Cross Match?s open architecture products and solutions meet all standards related to biometrics, credentialing and interoperability as stipulated by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the Department of Homeland Security.

?With our considerable experience in implementing biometric solutions for many federal agencies, we believe we have the knowledge and expertise to provide the government and integrators with an effective and efficient PIV solution to help them comply with the President?s directive,? said Ted Johnson, Cross Match?s Chairman and CEO. ?We plan to go a step further and provide these agencies with a means to create a PIV biometric card that can be used for high security applications, such as fingerprint-enabled door access control, computer network access control, and other check point ID verification applications.?

Cross Match is offering federal agencies and integrators a suite of products and solutions to comply with the PIV program requirements. Some of the products and tools Cross Match is offering include:

? PIV Records Management Suite: This is a software tool capable of collecting and handling all of the document work flow related to the PIV card application, employee checks, application processing and card issuance.

? 10-Fingerprint Live Scan Systems for Enrollment and Background Checks: Cross Match?s FBI certified digital fingerprint live scan systems will capture, store and electronically submit fingerprint records to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) for background checks. Before the records are submitted to the OPM, they will be compared against the agency?s internal Cross Match provided fingerprint database to ensure the applicant is not already enrolled under a different name or alias. The same fingerprint records will then be utilized a second time to provide the two index fingerprint images and biographical information about the applicant for credentialing purposes. A server solution will provide a centralized enrollment approach for agencies with multiple regional sites.

? Credentialing: Cross Match offers both complete PIV-compliant biometric ID badge solutions and tools for integrators to develop their own solutions. Full credentialing systems include 10-print live scan systems; contact and contactless smart cards, readers and encoders; public key infrastructure for encryption; and fingerprint databases, matching systems, and verification systems.

? PIV Card Uses: Once federal employees and contractors receive their PIV cards with embedded fingerprints, Cross Match can help agencies and systems integrators implement solutions that work with the card, such as computer network log on, door access control, mobile ID verification, visitor management, transaction ID verification and others.

Cross Match will be demonstrating its PIV offering at the Card Tech Secure Tech conference, April 12-14, at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Booth # 524. Information about this conference is available at http://www.ctst.com/conferences/CTST05/.
