FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cross Match Mobile Fingerprint Scanner approved for
Transportation Security Administration's TWIC Pilot

Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. December 2, 2008 – Cross Match Technologies, Inc., a global provider of biometric identity solutions, announces the company's Be.U Mobile handheld, mobile fingerprint reader, has successfully completed the Transportation Security Administration's (TSA) Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Reader Pilot Initial Capability Evaluation (ICE) scenarios.

With the successful completion of the ICE, the Be.U Mobile has been placed on the TSA's published ICE product list relative to the TWIC card and reader specification. The nation's ports will use this published reference list to select products for evaluation and purchase. The purpose of the TWIC program is to provide security clearance for those requiring regular access to the maritime ports by issuing biometric credentials in the form of tamper-resistant identification cards to nearly one million longshoremen, sailors, truck drivers and other laborers who work at U.S. port facilities and on vessels.

"Cross Match's rugged Be.U Mobile is a handheld smart card and fingerprint device that will impress our nation's port authorities with its credential authentication and validation capabilities," remarked Cross Match CEO and President, James Grau. "When Cross Match's Be.U Mobile line of products are in use, access to U.S. port facilities and vessels will be limited to workers with valid identification cards containing biometric data."

System integrators can select the Be.U Mobile card readers for evaluation at approximately 23 maritime facilities, vessels, and vessel operation centers. Pilot tests will be conducted at sites in seven geographic locations. The Be.U Mobile uses a Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS-201) certified reader and can authenticate the FIPS 201, TWIC, and Merchant Mariners card specifications via both contact and contactless interfaces from an IEC 60529 IP65 rated platform. The Be.U. Mobile has a proven track record of enabling standards based interoperability for card holder authentication across multiple large scale installations.
